11 Kingdoms

So August flew by. I've redone my website http://chrisloomis13.com and I also joined Instagram so I can share work quicker; my name is of course chrisloomis13. Been playing with inks as well as modeling. Need to set up a way to take better pictures of my work for proper viewing online. Also a friend of mine asked for some logos so I did these up today. Mixed feelings. I've become to appreciate my hand in my work and less digital which makes sharing the work more difficult since I have to get good pictures of everything. Anyways here is what I have.

Sorry, but not really...

Sorry for not posting in three weeks, but that's not to say I haven't been artistic.  I started painting miniatures again, which I used to do when I was in high school.  Started playing Warhammer 40,000 again too.  The new edition, sixth, came out and is good fun.  I will have to set up a photo booth to show them off.  I also found this, http://www.nicholaskay.com/, and I am jealous of his skills.  Definitely check out his art and mini's, both are inspiring.  He has some video tutorials on his youtube channel, so I am hoping I can pick up some tips from watching them.  I think I will be doing more single pieces, rather than the comic.  I also want to revamp my website, and of course continue painting my own army.  Until next time, Ciao!

Other projects and priorities have slowed down my pace.  Either that or I am making up excuses.  On the plus I am getting better.  On the other hand I am not sure if comics are for me, but I will make sure this comes to an end of sorts.

Back to the post.  Last weekend was a blast at Lake Tahoe, meaning I missed a post.  This weak I made sure to get something done.  I distracted myself with other projects so I wish I had spent a bit more time refining this week's, but I wanted to make sure I hit my deadline.

Not much to say.  There is room for improvement but I can feel myself getting.  Makes me wish real painting.  I will have to start using a real brush again soon.  Also, I will be away at Lake Tahoe next weekend so I do not think I will have time for page 3, but hopefully I will have something to offer either before or after the weekend.  Cheers!

Page 1

I was entertaining a guest from 5/22 to 6/1 and thus took a small vacation from my tablet, but yesterday and today I worked to make this.  I've decided to do a comic that does not have a prewritten story.  I am not even sure if I will use words, and I have no title as of yet.  This page is not completely finished, but getting close to a point where I am happy with it.  I plan to do another page for next week, and hopefully revisit this one to add some of the things missing from is.

Wandering...

Another week; more sketching.  Not sure where this is headed anymore.  Really enjoying the manipede, fing and womantis.  I need to settle on a bigger project and work towards that.  Not that the random sketching isn't good, but a more finished product should be worked towards.  Should probably drop my lofty ambitions in favor of something smaller in scale, and thus more manageable.  That's enough open pondering for now.

This weak I focused on the above digi painting for my Mom.  Below is a random sketch I did just before midnight really fast.  I think 15 minutes, but I wasn't watching the clock.  Definitely no more than 30.  Under him are some of the other saves through the week of the about piece.

Finding my groove

As I was uploading my files I realized I must of saved over a sketch I did.  Pretty frustrating as it was one I actually wanted to keep, wish I could of lost a different file.  Otherwise I tried a new technique in the first pic, not sure if I will use it again, but I definitely learned a lot.  Not sure what else to put here, pretty angry I saved over that file at the moment, must of happened yesterday and I didn't realize it until just now.

Sumo Paint

This week I spent time thinking on the project to come.  Just mental organization of what I need to do and how I need to do it.  As such, this next week will be plenty of writing.  When not thinking I did a couple drawings.  The first is Megaman which I did in Sumo Paint, a free painting program.  Its ok, and much of my criticism comes from the fact that I have been using Photoshop for years now.  I'm sure if I just take the time to set up the hot keys I want the program will be comparable.  I had to stop working on it b/c I didn't feel I was improving it anymore.  The 2nd was a sketch I did real empty minded.  Done in Photoshop, I have no idea what is meant by it.  Looking at it today I see the head is big for it to be proper proportions, unless it were a child.  Ah well, I didn't hold myself to any standards while doing it, just sort of let go.

chrisloomis13.com is reborn

Today I relaunched my website, chrisloomis13.com

It is what I have been working on as of late and I am happy to see it up.  Still more I can do with it but for now this is good.  Also have a facebook fanpage and twitter.  With that now done I hope to move on to an actual project.  I have a couple ideas, but I think I am going to focus on just one.  Also, having posted last weekend and now this weekend, I hope I can really solidify consistent blog posting.  Its a good goal setter, so hopefully my production levels will stay high.  Cheers to all that have been following, and cheers to anyone just finding me.

Back to SF and employment

So where have I been?  What have I been up to?  Since my last post I made up my mind to move back to San Francisco.  I got more done and was more driven there.  Not sure if its b/c I am living alone with less distractions or if its something to do with the city, or maybe its just the west coast in general.  Whichever way, I moved back February 1st and sought employment which I found March 12th.  With a paycheck I felt better turning my full attention back towards my own pursuits.  Having now got a desk and organized my room and life I have been working on the relaunch of my own website.  Not much to show in the way of actual work, but I did the below sketch, or whatever you want to call it, this morning in about 30 minutes in photoshop.  Hopefully the next post here will be the relaunch of my website.
