What I have done on the 'puter since last time. Need to refocus, but am preoccupied by too many things. Silly really.

Tuesday, December 6, 2011

So it has been a minute since I posted.  Lets see, I did not pass my midterm review and decided to discontinue classes as my loans were growing rather large.  The passion is still there and I have been practicing with renewed fervor.  I will avoid going into any ranting about this that or the other thing, so, in no particular order, here is some of the stuff currently on my hard drive.

B/W

There are some minor mistakes in the shadows, but came out good otherwise. The last three are describing a room in my thesis.

logo, turn around, perspective

So here is the past week. First is the logo I mentioned last week, followed by the turn around that was also mentioned, and finally the line drawing I did for one of my classes showing I understand 1 point perspective. Next week we will render the line drawing with natural light.

School has begun

So the academy moved one of my classes to Monday, so now I will be posting on Tuesday. I have a logo and character turn-around on my work desk, but are in pencil and I will share these next week after I ink them.

First image was done for an album cover, but have yet to hear back from that individual. I need to use more atmospheric perspective in it, but was working quick, as there is no guarantee anything will come out of it's creation. Until I hear back I feel no need to spend more time on it.

I spent time coloring with markers and this is my second attempt at the same image, fairing better than the first. The markers are nice, but expensive, and this limits my color choice, so I do not know how much I will be employing them.

Lastly, I also worked on inking previous sketches, and though many have been inked, this is my favorite.

John, Hands, and Proto-Ink

So a week went by and I am going to incorporate Monday blogging as part of my weekly ritual. The images below are in chronological order starting with poses of John, followed by hand studies, and finally a little inking. Inking is going to let me scan and photo my images better with darker lines and no reflective properties, that you'll notice in some of the images below. I'm sure I could get a better photo, but I want to blog quick and effortlessly. Finally, I find it funny to note the difference between my hand and Bridgman's illustrations that I have been studying, since my thumbs and fingers are quite shorter making my palms look much wider. Anyways, enjoy and I'll post another week of work next Monday.
